“Glauco Longhi is a traditional and digital sculptor, Art Director and Game Developer.

Currently working at Santa Monica Studio as Character Supervisor, previously at Unknown Worlds Entertainment as Studio Art Director, Art Director at Striking Distance Studios, Character Director for The Callisto Protocol, Lead Character Artist at Sony Santa Monica Studio, working on the God of War Franchise and Senior Character Artist at Naughty Dog.

His shipped titles includes The Callisto Protocol (2022), God of War Ragnarok (2022), God of War (2018) and Uncharted 4 (2016), amongst others games, movies, and extensive amount of diverse projects.

His career started in 2006 while studying a Film degree; he began working with video editing and then later shifted to become a 3D generalist. In 2006, he discovered his passion for modeling and sculpting when he took a sculpting class by Alex Oliver in Brazil.

Following a few years working in various games and advertising studios, Glauco started a company in Sao Paulo, Brazil, which ran from 2010 to 2014. During this time, he held various master classes for artists on traditional sculpting, both on-site and on location. He also traveled Brazil and worked on more than 40 projects for clients, from short films to feature movies, TV shows, commercials, collectibles, and more besides.

In 2014, he decided to take his career in a new direction, and into video games. With all the previous experiences and digital knowledge, he put up a new portfolio. In January 2015, he joined the Naughty Dog crew as a Sr. Character Artist to work on Uncharted 4, and moved to Santa Monica, California.

In June 2016, he decided to take the next step in his career and accepted the offer to join Sony Santa Monica Studio, as a Sr. Character Artist, which evolved to Lead Character Artist during shipping God of War (2018).

In November 2019, he accepted the offer to join a new and upcoming studio, led by Glen Schofield - Striking Distance Studios, part of the PUBG Corporation as Character Director, defining and shaping the Character Art Pipeline and State of the Art, and later Art Director for the Studio Projects.

In March 2023, he joined Unknown Worlds as Studio Art Director, to help with the studio expansion and growth into AAA space, as well as helping drive Subnautica 2.

in April 2024, he joined back Santa Monica Studio as Character Supervisor.

He now lives in Socal with his family.

TIMELINE

2004 – First contact with 3ds Max - Impacta

2005 – 3dsMax basic course - Cadritech

2006 – Started University –  Audiovisual/Film School - and working as Video Editor / Motion Graphics - Studio S/A

2007 - First couple classes with Alex Oliver, who later become a mentor and inspiration / 3D Artist at Origo

2008 - Interativa Online and Caverna Digital -incubation team around new technologies and virtual reality - Sao Paulo University

2009 - Founder of Studio Cativeiro/Codorna Studios, alongside 2 friends - Advertising, games, art outsourcing.

2010 - Jordu Schell Mask Making Course - A pivotal class - Also started Glauco Longhi Studio in Sao Paulo/Brazil

2011 - CCAA Master’s Degree Teacher - RJ

2012 - Dick Smith Advanced Makeup Course

2014 - After having the opportunity to grab lunch with Rick Baker and hear thoughts about the industry, decided to close down Glauco Longhi Studio to pursue a career in games fulltime - Built new portfolio and later that year got hired by Naughty Dog

2015 - Moved to CA/USA to join Naughty Dog and work on Uncharted 4 - Later that year, presented at Gnomon - life and career - digital and traditional sculpting.

2016 - Shipped Uncharted 4 with Naughty Dog, later that year joined Sony Santa Monica Studio - Presented at GDC with Substance team and later at Substance Days at Gnomon / Anatomy Tools Class - Level 3 with Andrew Carwse

2018 - Shipped God of War (2018), presented at Substance Days in Tokyo

2019 - Joined Striking Distance Studios, helping build studio, project, team, culture from the ground up.

2022 - Shipped The Callisto Protocol

2023 - Presented the Character Rendering Art of Callisto Protocol at GDC, alongside Jorge Jimenez and Martin Contel - Also Joined Unknown Worlds Entertainment as their Studio Art Director

2024 - Re-joins Sony Santa Monica Studio as Character Supervisor, to work on an unnanounced title.
